Introduction China Architectural and Industrial Glass Association
　　China Architectural and Industrial Glass Association（CAIGA）, The former Flat Glass Sub-association of China Building Materials Industry Association, was granted to found by State-Administration for Building Materials Industry of the P.R.China In Dec.1986, and approved to register by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the P.R.China in May 1992.CAIGA has a already got a status of a legal person.
　　CAIGA is a nationwide social non-profit organization consisting of all kinds of production, distribution, application and related supplementary enterprises of flat glass, rolled glass, tempered glass, sealed insulating glass, coated glass, glass mosaic, quartz glass, glass beads, photovoltaic glass,hollow glass block, glass machinery & equipment, art glass, etc., as well as relevant colleges, scientific research and design institutes based on their own aspiration.
　　The tenet of CAIGA, based on complying with constitution, laws, regulations and related governmental policies and abiding by social ethic and custom, is to provide the services for the glass industry and promote the perfect development of the industry. CAIGA will protect the legitimate rights and benefits of its members and assist the government to safeguard the fairly competitive market environment and execute the management of the glass industry, playing a role as a bridge between the government and enterprises. CAIGA has main duties as follows.
　　1.Carrying out the investigation of the industry, collecting and processing the basic information.
　　2.Acting as intermediary, to publicize and implement the Party’s and the government’s general and specific policies, laws and regulations about the development of the glass industry, and transmit the voices of the members to the related government departments.
　　3.Organizing members to formulate the stipulations and regulations of the industry and safeguarding the legitimate rights and benefits of its members and between members and non-members both inside and outside of the industry.
　　4.Organizing experience exchange and personnel training, holding exhibition and providing information, etc.
　　5.Organizing experts to provide diversified services, such as technological evaluation, appraisal, diagnose and consultation for the member enterprises and the commission units on the development of new products and new technologies, expansion projects and technological innovation, product quality, operation management, etc.
　　6.Take part in making outing, revising all kinds of the industrial standards in the field of glass and organizing to execute them, recommending well-knows and fine quality products to the public and assisting the governmental departments to strike out at various actions and activities on providing sham and shoddy commodities.
　　7.Developing the ties with foreign economic groups, organizing non-governmental international exchange and co-operation.
　　8.Organizing the industry to carry through anti-dumping and anti-subsidy, and making out the related protective measures to safeguard the legitimate rights and benefits of the industry.
　　9.Assisting the government to implement administration over the glass industry, undertaking the work mandated by the government.
Since its establishment, CAIGA has organized a series of activities for the members of the association, such as experience exchange, personnel training, market development, information service, price self-discipline, technical consultation and international exchange and co-operation, etc. In addition, CAIGA has transferred the requests and suggestions from its members to the related government department, putting forward constructive opinions on the development of the industry, formulation of policies, rules and regulations, technical and economic problems, etc., Thus, CAIGA obtains the trust and support from its members and the related government departments. In 2003, CAIGA set up its own website (www.glass.org.cn). In 2004, CAIGA, together with China Building Materials Newspaper, publishes China Glass Special Column. It is also preparing to publish to a professional magazine. We believe, with the perfection of Chinese socialist market-oriented economic system step by step, the effects of the Association will become greater and greater, and CAIGA will make a greater contribution to the development of Chinese glass industry, playing an important role on service, intermediary, price self–discipline and protection of legitimate rights and benefits.
