ST. MICHAELS — On Friday, Aug. 9, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum invites the public to participate in one of four “Introduction to Stained Glass Mosaic” workshops led by noted mosaic and stained glass artist Jennifer Wagner. The workshops will be offered in one-hour sessions beginning on the hour from 4 to 7 p.m., with participation limited and registration needed.
The workshops take place in the museum’s boat shop, where Wagner will lead participants in learning and exploring the fundamentals of glass cutting, assembly and mosaic design. CBMM Boatyard Program Manager and stained glass artist Jenn Kuhn will assist with the program.
Participants in each one-hour session will be contributing to the creation of a wood-framed, custom stained glass compass rose mosaic, which replicates the signature artwork for CBMM’s 16th annual Boating Party — the museum’s annual fundraising gala.
The finished, stained glass piece will be exhibited at the Sept. 7 Boating Party event, with raffle tickets sold beforehand at CBMM’s Welcome Center and the museum store, as well as during the event. Raffle proceeds benefit the children and adults served by CBMM’s educational, exhibit and boat restoration programs.
The cost for the one-hour Aug. 9 “Introduction to Stained Glass Mosaic” workshops is $15 for CBMM members, or $18 for nonmembers, with registration taken for the sessions at 4, 5, 6 and 7 p.m. To register or for more information, call 410-745-4941.
