In addition, an interesting supporting programme, featuring a presentation forum in Hall 3A for the first time, offers countless information and learning opportunities on the trending topics in the industry. Find the details online at:www.frontale.de/en/events.
Every two years, window and facade manufacturers, carpenters, architects and suppliers descend on Nuremberg to find out about the latest profile systems, structural elements, glass in architecture, fixing technology, security technology, machines, equipment and a whole lot more.
For the who's who of the industry, the biennial FENSTERBAU FRONTALE is the No. 1 venue for presenting innovations to a worldwide professional audience. In 2018 the leading international fair will celebrate its 30th anniversary at the Nuremberg location.
But trade visitors will not just discover interesting innovations at the major exhibition stands, as different programme formats will also provide interesting insights. For example, it's well worthwhile visiting the new FENSTERBAU FRONTALE FORUM with LOUNGE and Job Board.
And the podium in Hall 3A will focus on current industry issues like digitalisation in the trades, building automation, security and practical tips for tradespeople, with experts exploring these topics in TED-style presentations during the entire trade fair.
All presentations will be translated simultaneously into English and can be followed as a live stream during the event via www.frontale.de/en. The adjacent FENSTERBAU FRONTALE LOUNGE offers an opportunity to network and relax, while the JobBoard brings together employers and potential recruits.
Moreover, there will be guided tours on specific focus themes for the first time, including building automation or burglary prevention. For times and dates and to register please go to: www.frontale.de/en/guidedtours
Intelligent control: “Smart Home …
… with Windows and Doors” is the theme of this year's special show, which is jointly organised by ift Rosenheim (institute for window technology) and NürnbergMesse. On exhibition area 1-515 in Hall 1, visitors can learn, through examples involving doors, windows, facades and sun protection, how smart home technology can be readily deployed today and how individual building elements can be networked with one another.
Action zones will demonstrate how to mount and cable drives and sensors, connect them to a controller and integrate them into a central system. In addition, there will be an overview of the technical options currently available and their advantages and disadvantages.
Another established feature of the FENSTERBAU FRONTALE programme are the technical presentations on “Innovations from Switzerland” organised by the Bern University of Applied Sciences as part of the event series “Taste of Windays” in conjunction with the Swiss industry associations SZFF and FFF.
The topic for 2018 is also “Smart Home", from smart fabrication through to automated locking technology.

Red logo shows the way: Focus on Architects’ Area
At FENSTERBAU FRONTALE 2018 the red logo of the Architects’ Area helps architects and building planners make the most of their trade fair visit. At appropriately designated stands they can get special information material and expert answers to their specific questions on windows, doors and facades.
The logo is also found in the exhibitor and product database www.frontale.de/exhibitors-products that helps visitors prepare their visit and also enables them to request appointments with exhibitors.
Forum Architecture-Window-Facade
For the 9th time, in combination with the Architects’ Area, the Forum Architecture-Window-Facade at FENSTERBAU FRONTALE on the morning of the second day, Thursday 22 March, offers an exceptional information and lecture programme exclusively for architects. High-calibre speakers will present the themes of the trade fair in an overarching context.
Under the title DIESSEITS DER FORM – NEXT STEP (“On this side of form – the next step”), the Architecture Forum will this year concentrate on topics such as saving energy and resources, energy efficiency, biodiversity and sustainability that are redefining the process of form-finding in architecture. The speakers at the 9th Architecture Forum will outline current developments in their presentations.

Virtual Reality: New opportunities for planning and sales
NürnbergMesse has devoted a separate action zone to the trending topic of virtual reality (VR). In Hall 3A, Stand 3A-112, exhibitors and visitors can immerse themselves in the virtual world of windows.
Particularly in the consulting and design phases, VR can open up new sales channels. Following successful completion of the pilot project at FENSTERBAU FRONTALE, NürnbergMesse aims to position itself as a partner to exhibitors in future for the integration of VR concepts.
Visitors to the FORUM can also gain insights into the technologies of virtual and augmented reality. On Thursday 22 March 2018 at 11.30 there will be a presentation on “Immersive Media” with relevant examples of use.
Getting to the combined trade fair reliably and cheaply
Following the measures taken at the previous event to counter the huge traffic flows heading to FENSTERBAU FRONTALE and HOLZ-HANDWERK, the organisers are sticking to the 10 o'clock start.
Assessments have shown that this allows exhibitors and visitors to better avoid the morning rush hour traffic. In addition, special offer fares and timetable extensions at peak times provide the option of using public transport in 2018.
The use of public transport in the Nürnberg/Fürth/Stein region is included in the price of tickets purchased in advance and in the exhibitor pass. One-day and four-day tickets are also ten euros cheaper when purchased in advance rather than at the venue. For all details go to: www.frontale.de/easytravel
From the end of February in the app store: the FENSTERBAU FRONTALE app
Visitors can use the FENSTERBAU FRONTALE app for iOS and android to get information in advance about exhibitors and products and create a wish list.
The apps then make it easier to navigate the event on site thanks to a dynamic floor plan and push notifications if there are changes to anything in your personal wish list. For information go to:www.frontale.de/en/app
