The Glass Association of North America’s (GANA) Building Envelope Contractors (BEC) Conference officially kicked off last night in Las Vegas with a joint reception with Glass Week attendees—as Glass Week ended and BEC got underway.
This morning, BEC division chair Henry Taylor of Kawneer Co. Inc. opened the session and introduced Kawneer general Diana Perreiah, who spoke about the state of the aluminum industry.
John Lewis of the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFCR) addressed the NFRC’s component modeling approach (CMA) program, as it relates to code compliance and the above-code benefits it could provide for glazing contractors.
GANA energy consultant Tom Culp of BirchPoint Consulting LLC led the group in a discussion of the newest commercial energy codes and green construction codes.
Serge Martin of AGC took a look at the state of the glass industry, and Ron Stokes of CDC Inc. took on the controversial topic of curtainwall failures—and what often causes them.
