Unlimited opportunities for constructions, markets, technology.

Do foresight and overview really bring "unlimited opportunities" for constructions, markets and technology? This year's Rosenheim Window & Facade Conference from October 10 to 12, 2018, is either provocative or hopelessly optimistic, depending on one's point of view: on the one hand, the boundlessness of architecture, and on the other hand, the removal of trade barriers caused by the open markets in the EU.

26 lectures in 10 thematic blocks and 4 workshops analyse technological and economic trends and effects and present visionary solutions.

In his lecture "Without limits – Constructions, markets, technology", Prof. Ulrich Sieberath (Director of ift Rosenheim) will discuss various factors and perspectives of this demanding question.

The boundlessness in architecture is problematic, because architects and building owners often demand the impossible: ever larger, heavier and more complicated components – preferably even anthracite in colour, which can cause constructional difficulties. Another point is the open markets, which allow trade barriers to be removed and technical rules to be harmonised.

The two other keynote speeches show how versatile the contents of the Rosenheim Window & Facade Conference were chosen. Prof. Peter Andres (Beratende Ingenieure für Lichtplanung GBR, Hamburg) uses practical examples to discuss the interpretation of daylight in his speech "Designing with light".

Prof. Dr. Michael Braungart (EPEA Internationale Umweltforschung GmbH, Hamburg) will talk in his lecture “World without noxious substances” about the tendency "Down with environmental poison – thumbs up for healthy building materials".

Particularly striking is the range of lectures on exciting objects with innovative technologies:

  • Textile facade – envelope with many functions: The facade of the Thyssen Krupp test tower, Prof. Dr. Timo Schmidt (Werner Sobek Stuttgart AG and Hochschule Augsburg)
  • The Futurium – curtain wall of the future? From design to implementation, Frank Walter (Arup GmbH Ingenieurbüro, Berlin)

Of course, a large number of practical lectures also offer content with direct benefits for operational implementation.
