The main TAIEX index opened up 34.44 points at 8,752.56, after ending nearly 1 percent lower in the prior session. Almost every sector rose, led by glass and department stores.
The Taiwan dollar was flat at T$29.078. Foreign investors were net sellers on Friday, capping their total purchases at T$39.5 billion so far this month.
