Demand for Bullet Resistant Glass (BRG) is increasing rapidly. Currently the production capacity at existing manufacturers cannot full fill the market demand. At the same time many manufacturers with existing production line with required equipment: pre-processing, bending, and lamination equipment to manufacture BRG glass are struggling to survive with their existing product range of architectural or vehicle glazing that is still affected by the slow economy.
So why there aren’t more existing or new manufacturers taking up to this possibility of manufacturing this high margin product with lucrative global markets and growing demand? Although the BRG is potentially a multimillion business opportunity the equation is simple: most manufacturers of safety glass are not ready to take up on the challenge of starting the product development and mold tooling design required to apply and to acquire required international test standards to enter the market. The decision is understandable, since the process of start-up of BRG manufacturing simply with learning by doing and learning from mistakes approach will be expensive and time consuming. Today there is a solution that is cost effective: in terms of duration of manufacturing start-up, and cost of testing materials.
