The Auto Glass community is buzzing about the development of the newest Electronic Standard initiative being spearheaded by the Independent Glass Association (IGA). The Standards & Technology Summit held in Scottsdale, Arizona was a huge success. Since the summit, five committees have been organized which include; First Notice of Loss/Electronic Assignment, Electronic Inspection, Electronic Audit, Provider Data Repository and Electronic Invoicing.
Volunteers from all across the auto glass repair and replacement industry are ready to move forward with this historic industry changing initiative. “We are pleased with the reception from the industry following the February summit in Scottsdale,” said summit host Gary Hart, eDirectGlass CEO and Technology Evangelist. “The industry is at a critical turning point and it is important that all trading partners can communicate electronically, by following common electronic standards and operating procedures. Without these proposed standards, fair access to the marketplace will be lost,” Hart concluded.
A chairperson has been assigned to each of the five committees and each committee will be charged with the responsibility of developing guidelines for each of the five respective phases of the technology standard. The chairpersons and their committee members have been notified regarding the time frames for the four meetings that are currently scheduled beginning the second or third week of May, 2011 and culminating with all committees coming together at Auto Glass Week in Memphis on September 15-17, 2011.
