After many years’ endeavor, Chinese scientists finally gained a series of great development in metal glass’s preparation and mechanism, then successfully developed amorphous alloy material that applied in satellite solar cell and other stretchable mechanisms.
Amorphous alloy is also called metal glass, because of its special structure of atoms when compared with crystals, it has features of super toughness, high flexibility and low thermal expansion coefficient, these features make it became one of the most hot fields in material research and has the potential of become the third material industrial revolution after iron and plastic.
Start from 2007, scientists from Tsinghua University and other universities made up “973” plan and “high performance light weight amorphous alloy key problems research” research projects. These years, the group successfully made aluminum, magnesium, titanium and other light weight alloy into metal glass.
