TAIWAN-BASED GLASS MAKER INVESTS 100 MLN DOLLARS IN EASTERN CHINA PLANT
Taiwan Glass Industry Corp., a Taiwan-based glass maker, started construction on its Chinese plant in east China's Anhui Province on Tuesday.
The plant, which covers 57.3 hectares at an industrial park in Fengyang County, will be built through an investment of 100 million U.S. dollars for two production lines that have a combined annual capacity of 738,000 tonnes of energy-saving glass and premium flat glass.
Annual sales revenue is expected to reach 1.8 billion yuan (273 million dollars) when the plant is operational by the end of 2012, company sources said.
Founded in 1964, Taiwan Glass Industry Corp. is one of the world's leading float glass makers. Fengyang is among China's major glass manufacturing bases with sales revenue last year exceeding 8 billion yuan (1.21 billion dollars).
CHINA'S FIFTH PORT FOR CAR IMPORTS TO BE BUILT IN SOUTHERN CHINA
Qinzhou Bonded Port in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is set to start building a vehicle inspection and test line to provide service for car imports from ASEAN countries.
The project, which will be built through an investment of 8.1 million yuan (1.23 million dollars), will allow for inspection of 150,000 vehicles annually upon its completion in August this year.
The port is also planning to build other facilities such as a ro/ro wharf, a storage yard and an exhibition and trading center to allow for the importation and exportation of 300,000 vehicles annually by the end of 2015.
The port will become China's fifth after Tianjin, Dalian, Shanghai and Guangzhou, that is capable of car imports.
INTERNATIONAL PETRO EQUIPMENT EXHIBITION HELD IN BEIJING
The 11th China International Petroleum and Petrochemical Technology and Equipment Exhibition (CIPPE) opened in Beijing on Tuesday.
Representatives of some 1,500 enterprises from 45 countries attended the 3-day exhibition at the China International Exhibition Center (New Venue) in Beijing's northeastern Shunyi District.
A forum will be organized alongside the exhibition from experts and industry insiders to discuss petro-related issues.
Covering a venue of more than 80,000 square meters, the CIPPE 2011 has become the world's largest expo for the petro industry.
