Techni-Glass to Expand in Tennessee

Techni-Glass Inc. announced this week it will add 15,000 square feet and renovate its current facility to make room for new equipment—as well as 54 additional employees.

The company’s fabrication capabilities include tempering, laminating, insulating, edging, cutting and printing, as it serves a wide variety of markets from shower enclosures, windows, railings and table tops to sports applications, mirror and food displays.

“Techni-Glass opened in 1997 with only five employees doing only glass screen printing in a 15,000-square foot facility,” president and CEO Pat Murphy said in a statement through the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development. “I am thrilled Techni-Glass has grown so much in its 20 years in Hawkins County and is in its fifth expansion.

The company currently employs 100 people at its Surgoinsville, Tenn., location. After the expansion, the facility will span approximately 95,000 square feet.

“We’ve been very fortunate. We’ve got some very good accounts and we have some very good employees who have been with us a long time,” Murphy told the Citizen Tribune. “That’s very key. “We are excited about this expansion and look forward to the positive impact these jobs and investment will have on the citizens of Hawkins County,” Larry Elkins, Hawkins County industrial development board chairman, said in a statement. “We are positive Techni-Glass will remain strong and continue to grow and prosper.”
