Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne has announced business agreements between Ontario and Chinese organizations
Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne has announced business agreements exceeding CAD 1 billion between Ontario and Chinese organizations. The Premier met with Xinyi Glass Holdings to discuss their commitment to investing in Ontario. Xinyi has selected Ontario as the location for its first North American manufacturing facility, a large float glass plant. Xinyi's planned CAD 450 million investment, outlined in an agreement in principle signed between Xinyi and the province, would create 400 jobs in Ontario.
At a signing ceremony in Nanjing, Ontario and Chinese organizations announced another 32 agreements, which are expected to create more than 700 jobs in Ontario, including:
* Ontario's Ownace International Group signed a CAD 10 million agreement with Shanghai Golden Wing Industrial to open up China's East Territory as a market for their Ontario-grown premium food ingredients
* McMaster University entered into a CAD 5 million agreement with Dajiang Environmental Corporation to collaborate in the research, development and commercialization of smart water technology and related sensor technologies. Dajiang will also set up a subsidiary at McMaster Innovation Park focused on research and technology development
* Ontario signed five new agreements with the province of Jiangsu to fuel innovation, collaboration and economic growth in both regions.
