Taiwan Glass Corp., Taiwan’s largest manufacturer of high-tier glass, will gradually enjoy harvests from investing in low-E glass in Changhua Coastal Industrial Park of central Taiwan, and Chengdu of Sichuan Province and Tianjin Municipality of China.

Taiwan Glass noted the production facility of 4.5 million square meters in Changhua Coastal Industrial Park will begin mass production by the end of the second quarter of this year. The plants located in Chengdu and Tianjin will launch mass production at the end of April and the end of July this year, respectively. The company said its production of low-E glass will grow quarter by quarter.

At present, the company has already set up four production lines for low-E coating glass with combined annual production capacities reaching 7.8 million squarer meters, both in Taiwan and China.

With nine such production lines under construction, the company is expected to see annual production capacity increase by over 30 million square meters by the end of this year.

Adopting TCO-film glass-coating technology in its plant in Chanhua Coastal Industrial Park, Taiwan Glass is expected to grab much more business opportunities and expand its share of the solar-energy market in the foreseeable future.

Affected by the government’s policy of dampening the over-heated realty market, Taiwan Glass saw a slight sales decline in the first quarter of this year. But the company will have a brighter future in China, a government policy to encourage reconstruction in rural areas is being carried out.

Taiwan Glass had NT$39.6 billion in consolidated sales in 2010, up 25% year-on-year from NT$31.7 billion. The company scored NT$5.18 billion in after-tax earnings in 2010, marking a whopping 292% year-on-year growth. An institutional investor predicted Taiwan Glass will see earnings grow approximately 15% year-on-year this year.
