The installation of two new glass roofs at the spectacular Cannon Place project in London, has recently been completed by specialist architectural glazing contractor OAG.

The project, designed by architects Foggo Associates, will see the creation of new state of the art offices located directly above Cannon Street station. The scheme is part of a larger project that will see significant improvements made to the rail and underground stations, including the introduction of new retail units.

To make way for the new 37,250 square metres of offices and retail space, the 1960s buildings above the station have been demolished. As part of the creation of the new structure – an expressed steel mega structure that spans and cantilevers over the railway and underground stations and tracks – specialist contractor OAG are undertaking the installation of architectural glazing. This includes the installation of two glass roofs along with the glazed lift fronts and the structural glass facade to the building’s main reception. The lift fronts and structural glass facade are currently being completed.

OAG has also secured a further package of works – the creation of an impressive 20 metre x 6 metre back lit LED wall in the building’s main reception.

Part of the Optima Group, OAG brings a wealth of architectural glazing experience spanning engineering, design and installation. The company’s work encompasses internal and external applications, both structural and decorative, and is focused around a solution led approach to delivering glazing in line with architectural intent.

The project, which is being built by main contractor Laing O’Rourke for leading developer Hines, is due for completion in September 2011.
