Posing in front of the only major construction site in a city with 13 percent unemployment, state officials led by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said Wednesday they're making progress toward creating jobs.
The city's new $35 million police headquarters, the proposed $570 million New Britain-to-Hartford busway and the planned UConn Medical Center project will employ hundreds of workers over the next several years, said Tom Phillips, president of Capital Workforce Partners, a job-training organization.
