An out-of-state company whose products include architectural glass and aluminum is shifting the work of a Farmers Branch fabrication plant to a similar facility in Fort Worth.
The closing of the Farmers Branch plant will affect 46 workers, ACI Glass Products LLC said in a July 15 letter to Texas Workforce Commission.
An unspecified number of workers at the Farmers Branch facility at 12900 Nicholson Road will be given the opportunity to transfer to ACI's plant at 4400 Cambridge Road in Fort Worth, ACI's letter said. That number will depend on "operational needs," the letter said.
Officials of ACI Glass could not be reached for comment.
Layoffs will happen between Aug. 26 and Sept. 15, or within a 14-day period following each of those dates, the letter said.
The letter attributed the consolidation of ACI Glass' plants to "economic conditions and the company's need to obtain greater efficiencies of scale."
