Corning sues over LCD process

Corning Inc. has filed lawsuits in China and South Korea alleging that a Chinese company doing business in both countries has stolen the manufacturing technique Corning uses to make liquid crystal display glass.

The lawsuits accuse Hebei Dongxu Investment Group Ltd. of stealing secrets used in the production of glass for computer, smartphone and television displays.

In both cases, Corning is seeking unspecified damages and a restraining order preventing Hebei Dongxu from using, disclosing or permitting others to use the so-called fusion draw process employed in the manufacture of LCD glass.
