Vetrotech Saint Gobain, a division of Saint-Gobain Glass India Ltd, one of the leading float glass manufacturers in India rolled out its advanced range of fire resistant glass ‘Vetroflam’ targeted towards malls, commercial complex, retails space and office buildings.
According to reports, advanced technology was used to evolve the product, which blends fire resistance and solar control into a single product. It also makes the product quite ideal for building facades and exteriors where aesthetics is paramount along with safety.
While the green building concept is fast gaining momentum in India, the focus now is to ensure adequate fire protection in addition to the state-the-art solar control glasses, which helps in reducing the heat, while allowing light to penetrate. Scores of builders are giving preference to the fire rated glass used for facades and exteriors of buildings, specifically in areas, such as refuge terraces, staircase enclosure and shop fronts in tall buildings, to name a few.
Vetroflam has been tested in international labs for up to two hours of fire resistance. The super toughened product has outstanding mechanical strength, high impact resistance, easy to transport, handle and install. It has a solar factor of 0.26, a U value of 1.5W/m2K and also qualifies for the LEED or GRIHA ratings, besides conforming to the National Building Code (NBC) norms.
The product not only ensures fire resistance and solar control, but easily blends in with the architect’s design plans. It is suitable for theatres, hospitals, libraries, shopping malls, hotels and public spaces.
