PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) won a 2013 Excellence in Advertising Award, along with Pipitone Group, its online advertising agency, from McGraw-Hill Construction Media and Architectural Record magazine. The award was presented to Sharon Bird, PPG marketing communications manager, industrial coatings (center, left); Kim Tarquinio, director, account services (far right), and Arnie Begler, vice president (far left), Pipitone Group; and Rob Struble, PPG manager, brand and communications, flat glass (not pictured), by Laura Viscusi, vice president and publisher, McGraw-Hill Construction Media (center, right), at the American Institute of Architects (AIA) National Convention and Design Expo in Denver. PPG and Pittsburgh-based Pipitone Group were honored for high click-through rates and user interaction for a campaign featuring three separate online advertisements: one each for DURANAR(R) liquid and powder coatings, SOLARBAN(R) 70XL solar control, low-emissivity (low-e) glass, and SUNGATE(R) 600 passive, low-e glass. Laura Viscusi, vice president and publisher, McGraw-Hill Construction Media, said the User Engagement Awards are for companies that achieved “quantifiable excellence” in engaging the architectural community through continuing education courses and online advertising. “The PPG campaign, which incorporated roadblocks and complementary banner ads, generated a significant amount of user interaction, click-throughs and online traffic that made a powerful impact on AR.com visitors,” she added. Sharon Bird, PPG marketing communications manager, industrial coatings, said the award is satisfying because of the teamwork it involves. “The architectural metal coatings and glass businesses work closely with the Pipitone Group to develop compelling messages that speak to architects and to place them in environments that capture their attention,” she said. “The fact that these awards are based on hard data generated by actual users demonstrates that our creative and media-planning strategies are achieving results and providing a healthy return on investment.” To learn more about PPG glass, coatings and paint, visit www.ppgideascapes.com or call 1- 888-PPG-IDEA (774-4332).
