GGR’s lifting team rolled up their sleeves this week to tackle a tricky skylight installation job at a former boxing club in Liverpool.

A UNIC URW-095 mini crane was hired to help fit 5 top-of-the-range Velux roof windows at the Liverpool property. A miniature URW-095 spider crane was chosen for this job as its compact size meant it could work from the narrow street next to the house and could easily lift to the 5.5 metre height required.

This lift took some painstaking control and accuracy from our team as the mini crane’s boom had to be slewed underneath telephone cables and work around nearby trees and poles.

A 320kg capacity P11104 Four-in-Line lifter was attached to the crane’s searcher hook to lift each of the 160kg panels onto the roof from the street below. Thanks to the glass sucker’s 90° tilt mechanism the windows could be swiftly manoeuvred into position for easier installation.

Lifting, rotating and tilting skylights of all shapes and sizes is not a problem for GGR’s range of glass vacuum lifters. For example, our 2 tonne capacity Hydraulica 2000 had the lifting power to handle an oversized 6 metre wide roof light at a London home recently.
