AGC Glass Europe's AntiBacterial glass has been on the market for just over two years, finding many applications ranging from wall covering to furniture in sanitary environments. Below we give details of a few recent hospital projects.
Two hospitals in Bulgaria: Saint Ivan Rilsky and Pirogov
Saint Pierre Clinic Unit 900
Located in the city of Stara Zagora, the new Saint Ivan Rilsky hospital features 376 m² of Lacobel painted AntiBacterial glass (beige). The Pirogov hospital in Sofia has around 450 m² in various colours (blue, green, beige and white). Both hospitals have the Safe* version, which is mainly used as a wall covering in operating rooms and maternity wards. At the Pirogov hospital, AB glass is also used in other types of applications: a painted LacobelAB version for furniture in certain areas (cupboards, drawers), with the transparent PlanibelAB version used in doors between operating rooms.
Saint-Pierre hospital in Ottignies (Belgium) and Saint-Georges clinic in Nice (France)
Saint Ivan Rilski Clinic
The Saint-Pierre hospital in Ottignies (Belgium) is currently installing pastel blue LacobelAB glass in high-traffic areas (waiting rooms, consultation rooms, corridors, etc.). The Safe version is used as a wall covering, specifically near the sinks. The same pastel blue was installed at the Saint-Georges clinic in Nice (France) on the walls of an operating room specially designed for hand surgery.
Pirogov Hospital
AntiBacterial glass from AGC Glass Europe is a major innovation in glass, containing silver ions that destroy 99.9% of bacteria that come into contact with it. It also prevents the proliferation of fungi. This remarkable performance makes the glass ideal for applications where hygiene is critical.
