July/August 2011 — Since Emhart introduced in 1927 the first commercial 4 section single gob IS machine more than 80 years of continuous developments have happened aiming for higher performance, more flexibility and better quality. The first machine produced 4 containers per cycle while today’s Emhart Glass IS machine flagship, the NIS machine, a 12 section quadruple gob is capable of producing up to 48 containers per cycle. In fact a 12 times higher containers per cycle production.
The latest IS machine presented at GlassTec 2010 is the BIS. This machine combines the best from the AIS (best in class pneumatic full parallel IS machine) and the entire servo electric NIS machine.
The new full servo BIS machine will be capable to cover the complete ware range of the so called small section frame machines and even include the 5 ½ DG production range. With the capability to convert center distances from 95mm TG (same as NIS QG) 140mm ( 5 ½ )TG to 70 mm QG or single gob this machine has to potential to outperform and enclose of all the today’s pneumatic small section IS machines: 4 ¼ section SG, 4 ¼ DG - 3” TG - 3 5/16” TG – 2 1/8 QG 5” section SG, 5” DG, 85mm TG, QG 5 ½ section SG, 5 ½ DG
Two BIS prototype sections are now running under glass at the Emhart Glass Research Center in Windsor where engineers and production specialist are working closely with it. We are looking forward to the first two 12 section BIS machines will be delivered from Emhart Sweden to the customer at the end of this year.
From a straight forward completely new SIS production line package, the best solution for a very tight budget to prevent a compromising very questionable “patch” (partly repaired or re-used parts) production line installation. To the latest full servo electric IS machine to keep the pace of ongoing demand for higher performance, increased flexibility and excellent quality. Emhart Glass has the most complete IS machine portfolio.
