Decorative glass can be used in modern interior decorating, landscaping designs and anywhere that you want to add a touch of art. There are many ways to decorate the glass. Some ways are as difficult as fusing the glass using different colors of glass in stained-glass windows or designs. But, to achieve elegant or decorative results, there are many simple or easy ways to get the effects you want. One of the easiest ways is to use paint to add design and to reproduce the look of stained glass. It can be used to add designs to windows, bottles, jars, ornaments or anything else made of glass.

Instructions

  • 1

Clean and dry the glass piece you are working with. Any oily residue will make it difficult for the paint to stick to the glass.

  • 2

Attach the design to the interior of the glass on the side opposite to the surface you will be painting. If you will just be writing words, such as"Congratulations!" this step is not necessary.

  • 3

Hold your outline paste bottle like a pen. The exact position is not important as long it is comfortable for you and the tip is pointed downward.

  • 4

Trace the lines you see through the glass with your outline paste bottle. You might find it helpful to start from the inside lines and move out. This will prevent you from going over the lines you have already created. Let the outline dry according to bottle instructions.

  • 5

Paint in the spaces between the lines on the design using translucent paints. If you like the design without extra colors, this step is not necessary. If you are decorating a bottle or mirror and don't need any light to show through, use a solid color.
