National Windscreens is delighted to announce that it has been named the sole supplier by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for all Direct Repair/Replacement of Windscreens and Bodyglass requirements.

The contract covers a varied range of light and heavy logistics vehicles used by the Armed Forces; ranging from cars, through to heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), and is worth in excess of £250K per annum to the UK’s largest independently owned windscreen specialist.

The contract was awarded by the MoD’s procurement arm, the Defence Support Group (DSG), based on tender evaluation criteria which included pricing, geographic reach, technical ability and overall value and service for the MoD.

Regional Sales Manager, John Poole, who has more than 13 years’ experience in the automotive windscreen industry, submitted the tender and is now account handler for the MoD account. He says, “We are really proud to have been awarded such a prestigious contract. It is common knowledge that the MoD is undergoing significant cuts to its budget and is looking closely at spend in all areas. This contract reflects the fact that service from National Windscreens offers excellent value for money, without compromising on quality.”

National Windscreens will be carrying out windscreen replacements and repairs for the MoD’s extensive fleet which is currently based at more than 600 units throughout the UK and Northern Ireland. The company operates 114 fitting centres throughout the UK and more than 800 mobile technicians offer comprehensive off-site repairs and replacements to ensure all customers can access the most convenient service to suit their individual requirements.

The tender stated that ‘The full scope of the service may also encompass Germany and training areas in Poland and the Czech Republic.’ National Windscreens was able to meet this criterion due to its membership of The Automotive Glass Professionals  – a Europe wide alliance of windscreen specialists that offers its members’ clients the same level of service that they would expect in their home countries.

National Windscreens will be stocking all windscreens and body glass used in the MoD fleet as standard and will provide the MoD with a dedicated phone line to ensure all jobs are processed as priority.
