European solar industry launches appeal with General Court of the European Union - European solar manufacturers led by EU ProSun are appealing against the illegal deal with China in the anti-dumping case on Chinese solar products.

According to a European Commission's press release of today, the majority of EU Member States and the Commission approved a deal with China, paving the way for further dumped solar imports from China to Europe. European industry anticipates further bankruptcies and job losses following such a weak agreement.

Milan Nitzschke, President of EU ProSun commented: “EU Member States have been fooled and must not be aware of the devastating consequences of this illegal agreement which was approved without knowing its content as well as price ceilings and market volumes."

Europe is now a majority 'planned economy' with over 70 percent of the solar market awarded to manufacturers from the People's Republic of China at a price level which continues to encourage dumping. The competitive European solar market accounts for less than 30 percent where European manufacturers jostle with manufacturers from the rest of the world. "The outcome of these negotiations with China is contrary to European law. Given the significant damage to EU industry, European solar manufacturers are forced to go to Luxembourg to the General Court of the European Union to argue against this illegal deal," concluded Nitzschke.
